This page serves as the collection of User Guides for Searching the Library Inventory. There are many ways to search as illustrated in this overall diagram.

All of the Journals have been indexed in the SVCGR Library. An ongoing effort is underway to also index all of the Articles within each Journal. The types of Journals include AHSGR Journals, GRHS Heritage Reviews, AHSGR CLUEs, AHSGR Jugend Zeitungs, AHSGR Workpapers and GRHS Der Stammbaums.

Journals can be Searched by their Descriptions.  Articles are indexed by eight categories: Description, Photos, Maps, Documents, Charts, Culture, Food, and Religion. So, you can view the results of your search criteria within these categories. You can Search all Articles, all Articles for a Journal Type, or all Articles within a specific Journal Edition.

You can View a List of all Journal Editions for any of the above six Journal Types.

You can View a List of all Articles, all Articles for a Journal Type, or all Articles within a specific Journal Edition.

Books can be Searched by their Descriptions.  You can also View a List of all Books that are indexed.
Currently, all books in the SVCGR library have been indexed.

NOTE: Currently, results will return all books, journals, or articles that match the user's criteria. However, it doesn't do "and" "or" searches. For example, if you search for "volga lutheran churches", it will return all items that equal "volga lutheran churches". But, it will not return all items that contain "volga" and  "lutheran" (for example, an article that contains "volga schools" or an article that contains "lutheran bible studies"). Also, it will not return all items that contain "volga" or "lutheran" (for example, an article that contains "volga churches" or a book that contains "lutheran churches"). Perhaps in the future this functionality will be added ... or just contract with Google!!  Also note you can use a partial term at either the beginning or at the end of a phrase - but NOT in the middle. In the above example, "ga lutheran chur" will work just like "volga lutheran churches".
